1. The service

MuseShelf is a digital library for personal reading and listening. Depending on the book, translations, narration, summaries and reader reviews may be available. Writing, translation, illustration or narration may involve artificial intelligence tools and human editing. Not every book has the same editions or features.

These terms describe the features currently offered. Fiction may contain invented people and events. Stories and AI features are not provided as professional medical, legal or financial advice.

2. Age and accounts

MuseShelf accounts are available to people aged at least 15, subject to any additional requirements in their country. We request an age declaration before sign-in. This is not age verification and does not replace a parent’s or guardian’s permission where required for a particular action. We do not offer under-15 accounts or a parental-consent workflow.

Sign-in uses the external providers enabled by the service. Your password stays with the provider. Protect that account and sign out on shared devices. Contact us if you suspect unauthorised use. You must not use someone else’s account without permission.

You can connect another provider in Account settings after authenticating your account and the new provider. Connecting a provider keeps the same account, books and access allowance. Matching email addresses do not automatically link or merge different accounts.

3. Free access and book selections

Your free-book allowance, remaining selections and expiry date appear in your account’s access and subscription section. For new accounts, the initial free period currently lasts 30 days from registration. The allowance is determined by the service settings or an individual access grant. Samples may be offered when full-book access is unavailable.

Selecting a full book may consume an available free selection, as explained before confirmation. Signing in again or connecting a provider does not restart the free period or grant another allowance. Creating multiple accounts to bypass limits is not permitted. Access is for use within the service; it is not a purchase of ownership of a book or a promise of permanent availability.

4. Test subscriptions and payments

Subscription and checkout features are currently for testing. We do not collect money or card details through this test flow. Illustrative prices, plans, offers, invoices and renewal statuses within the test do not represent an actual charge, a payment debt or payment authorisation.

Before real payments are enabled, we will update these terms and the related privacy information. Before any order, we will present the total price and applicable taxes, duration, renewal frequency and conditions, cancellation process, withdrawal rights and refund conditions or other statutory remedies. No test selection will automatically become a paid subscription. A new, clear ordering and payment action will be required.

5. Use of content

You may read and listen to available content for personal, non-commercial use within your account’s access rights. These terms do not transfer ownership of books, translations, recordings, images, software, logos or the service design. Any existing rights remain with their respective holders.

Without permission from the rights holder, you must not republish, sell, distribute, publicly perform or systematically copy the content. This does not restrict uses that mandatory law permits, including applicable quotation or accessibility exceptions. You must not bypass access controls or technical limits.

6. Ratings and reviews

Submit only reviews you are entitled to provide. Threats, harassment, unlawful content, spam advertising, impersonation and infringement of others’ rights are not permitted. Do not put your own or another person’s personal data in a review. Negative criticism is allowed; disagreement with the service is not by itself a reason for removal.

You retain any rights you hold in your review. You allow us to store it, display it when you confirm publication and technically process it only as needed to operate and manage reviews. This is not permission for commercial reuse or AI training on your reviews. Public name display is a separate optional choice. You can update or delete your review through the available features.

7. Security and handling misuse

Attempts to gain unauthorised access, overload or disrupt the service, introduce malicious code or collect other users’ data without permission are prohibited. If you identify a security issue or content you believe is unlawful, contact us with enough information to investigate without exposing personal data or the vulnerability publicly.

We may restrict access or remove content when necessary to address a breach of these terms, a security risk or a legal obligation. Measures must be proportionate to the circumstances. Where feasible and permitted, we will explain the reason and provide a contact route to request reconsideration. An urgent risk may require a temporary protective measure first.

8. Personal data and external services

The privacy notice explains the data we process, purposes, retention and your choices. Using the library or referring to these terms is not consent to optional analytics, public name display or advertising tracking. These choices are separate and can be withdrawn.

Sign-in providers and external services you choose to open also have their own terms and policies. MuseShelf does not ask for your password to those services. Their outages may affect sign-in or an external feature.

Privacy settings and your data

9. Availability and statutory rights

Maintenance, fixes or technical problems may cause interruptions. The catalogue, translations and features may change, including for rights or security reasons. We do not promise uninterrupted operation or that every edition will always remain available. We will make reasonable efforts to give notice of planned material interruptions.

No term excludes or limits liability or a right where applicable law does not permit that exclusion or limitation. Mandatory consumer rights and any statutory remedies for digital content or services remain unaffected. Test operation does not remove those rights.

10. Stopping use and deletion

You may stop using the service and sign out at any time. Reader accounts can be deleted in Privacy settings after confirmation. Deletion covers the same account across all connected providers and removes related data from the active database as described in the privacy notice. It does not delete your account with an external provider. Backups and logs follow the separate retention policy.

If you cannot access your account or hold an operator account, you may submit a request through the published contact email. Appropriate identity checks may be required without sending passwords or verification codes.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in features, security or legal obligations. Each version will show an update date. For material changes, we will provide clear notice before they take effect where required and request renewed acceptance when needed. Silence or an earlier test choice will not be treated as consent to real charges, and changes will not apply retrospectively to remove accrued rights.

12. Questions and disputes

For questions, content reports, reconsideration requests or complaints, contact the operator using the details on this page. Describe the issue and relevant book or feature without unnecessary personal data. These terms do not restrict access to competent authorities, available alternative dispute-resolution bodies or courts determined by applicable law, or mandatory protection available in your country of habitual residence.
